Description
We present to you Lacquer Utensils by Shitsurindou in Fukui, Japan.
This flat plate is designed to perfectly fit a slice of bread, while also serving as a versatile dish for salads or as a larger side plate. Despite its dye from lacquer, you can still wash the plate. If you want to serve miso soups, we also have the deep bowl with the same dye from lacquer.
Key Features
-
Dishwasher Safe Natural Lacquer
Developed through extensive testing, this lacquerware is dishwasher-compatible while using 100% natural Japanese lacquer—completely free of synthetic coatings. -
Echizen Kata-Urushi (Hard Lacquer)
Traditional lacquer takes decades to reach full hardness. In collaboration with Fukui Prefecture and Fukui University, “Echizen Kata-Urushi” achieves an exceptionally hard lacquer coating that withstands daily use, including dishwashers. -
Shinnuri Finishing Technique
Multiple filtrations of lacquer remove dust and impurities. With a single careful brush application that leaves no brush marks, the shinnuri technique gives each piece a refined, high-end finish. -
Modern Function with Timeless Craftsmanship
Blending centuries-old Echizen lacquerware tradition with contemporary dining needs, these plates combine practical shapes with elegant colors—ideal as everyday tableware with luxury appeal.
